What is Reiki?

Reiki, pronounced Ray-Key, is an ancient form of hands on healing, originating in Japan. It is a simple yet powerful healing technique practiced by the placing of hands on the head and key energy points on the body, thus releasing energy blockages and assisting the body’s own healing process.

It is a very relaxing treatment with a multitude of physical, emotional and mental benefits.

Reiki can be useful in managing pain, stress and anxiety, depression, physical injuries including broken bones and burns, recovery from surgery and many other issues. It is also great for relaxation, to calm the mind and improve focus and energy levels, which in turn helps improve sleep and quality of life.

What does a Reiki treatment involve?

The client lays down, fully clothed on a comfortable Reiki table. The Reiki practitioner places her hands in a gentle, non-evasive touch on the head, torso, knees and feet in sequential order. An experienced practitioner may also be drawn to parts of the body that require healing, or where there are energy blockages.

For those clients who do not wish to be touched, Reiki can be applied to the energy fields above the body without losing any of it’s efficacy. The choice is entirely the clients whether they wish to be touched or not.

How long is a Reiki session?

A typical session is 50 minutes which includes a brief consultation.
